“How much do you charge and what insurance plans do you accept?”

At ChatterSoupe, fees and insurance participation are similar to other licensed counseling / talk therapy places in Connecticut.

“Let’s Chat”

All of our meetings are via telehealth. We start with a casual chat (for up to 30 minutes), where you’ll meet with a therapist to ask questions and share your concerns by video. The fully licensed therapist may ask more questions to understand the problem better. They may also share some about the style they use to help you. If our working together isn’t a great fit; we help you find someone else that’s right for you.

Most clients report that their concerns and discomfort are lessened after chatting before committing to treatment. They feel cared for from the first contact and receive quality attention to their needs. Many share that they enjoy feeling empowered to choose if our services meet expectations before investing their time.

Payment Options

As a private psychotherapy practice, we are able to offer a variety of ways for you pay for services:

  • Cash/Credit – not seeking insurance reimbursement
  • Commercial plan partnerships
  • Out-of-network insurance claims made easy!

Cash or Credit

Our first option which provides you with the most privacy is paying via credit or other secure electronic means. Through this option, an agreement is made with your therapist to pay a set rate for a pre-determined number of sessions. This option works well for those who choose not to purchase an insurance policy and want retain full control over their healthcare information keeping it from insurance companies and others when revealing such information could lead to discrimination through algorithms, violations of recordkeeping, and governmental overreach. This is further protected through a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) which is discussed in depth below. We accept credit cards, Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSAs) and work with Stripe for electronic fee processing.

Commercial Insurance Plans

ChatterSoupe has established partnerships with a couple commercial insurance plans. It’s important to note that not all services may be covered by insurance, we encourage you to reach out to your insurance representative, in advance, to explore the extent of your coverage. Our participation with insurance may vary, at any time, without notice.

We participate with (are in-network with) the following health insurance plans:

Out-of-network insurance claims made easy!

Although we may not be listed in your policy’s “preferred provider” list we can still work together while you use your healthcare insurance. Currently, our out-of-network (OON) commercial insurance agreements include Humana Military (Tricare East), Cigna and Aetna. But, yours may be covered too. Verify your benefits here!

Learn more about our collaboration efforts and how this may benefit you! Or call your member services number on your insurance card. Your insurance plan may reimburse you for your therapy sessions for these types of plans:

  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO),
  • Point of Service (POS) or
  • High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP),

This includes non-traditional Medicare plans with out-of-network options.

Easy Payments

When you request a Let’s Chat meeting, you’ll be prompted to place either your credit card or a health care savings account card on file. Once we begin our work, the automatic payment process will lessen your concerns about paying.

Plus, you’ll receive notice to download session invoices, monthly statements and/or superbills (invoices to submit for insurance reimbursement). However, if you choose to work with our new partner, Mentaya they handle your insurance reimbursement claims savings you confusion, time, and money.

Concierge Style

We offer this concierge style instead of pushing you through multiple people before meeting the person with whom you’ll eventually work. There are many practices and facilities that offer “free” consultations. Remember, you get what you pay for: being pushed through the queue line without quality.

We charge a nominal fee for this exclusive service, as it’s not covered by insurance. Insurance coverage starts after completing an in-depth interview for diagnostics and determining medical need, which follows the “Let’s Chat” meeting.

Get Started

Begin by selecting an appointment time that works for you (use the link below to see our calendar). Depending upon your selection, you’ll receive forms requesting information about your needs, your insurance or payment options, and informed consents (which are required by state regulations).

“I need more information”

If you aren’t quite ready to select an appointment, that’s ok. Maybe you have some questions to ask or have some information to share. We can help! Use this link to send a secure email directly to a therapist (not a receptionist or scheduler). Feel free to upload files confidentially.

Transparent Fees

If you choose to not use insurance or did not purchase a policy, we will provide to you a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to help you decide if the fees are within your financial means. Rest assured, our aim is to ensure a productive and fulfilling meeting to assist you with your emotional, behavioral, and/or relationship needs. The “Let’s Chat” meeting requires a minimal one-time payment that is not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Beginning January 2022, under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
  • For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

ChatterSoupe does not participate with either traditional Medicare nor any Medicaid plans. However, please continue to check back as we expand our services and partnerships often.

Private Practice

ChatterSoupe is a private practice organization offering talk therapy (psychotherapy services). Our focus is working with adults (age 18+) challenged with symptoms of emotional, behavior, and/or relationship struggles.

Sessions (meetings) are available for individuals, couples or groups of heterosexual women and men. We strive to keep a foundation associated with Christianity, although your treatment may or may not include faith-based work depending upon your customized needs and desires.

Gender identity and other orientations

Should you identify otherwise, we are happy to speak with you and assist you in locating a provider better suited for your needs. Although ChatterSoupe is culturally diversified in our training and knowledge, it would be a disservice for us to claim expertise for those seeking gender-related support and assistance.
